Indian PM Narendra Modi Addresses Nation on 80th Independence Day

New Delhi. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of India's 80th Independence Day. Before addressing the nation for the 13th consecutive time, he took the salute of the 'Guard of Honour' comprising the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Delhi Police. During the hoisting of the national flag, a 21-gun salute was given with indigenous 105mm light field guns. Before reaching the Red Fort, he paid tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat. In his address, the Prime Minister presented the achievements of the past 12 years and unveiled the government's long-term vision with the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047. In this context, he mentioned 'Vande Mataram' and said, 'This is the first time since independence that the echo of 'Vande Mataram' has been heard from the ramparts of the Red Fort. Today we are all celebrating the 80th Independence Day. What greater occasion can there be than this when the people of India are celebrating 150 years of 'Vande Mataram'?' During the address, a review was made of successes in manufacturing, textiles, defense, railways, connectivity, pharmaceuticals, and startups. The government's policies were also praised amidst the crisis of the Corona pandemic and the energy crisis caused by recent wars. The Prime Minister called upon all political parties to implement 33 percent reservation for women in the Legislative Assemblies and Lok Sabha and presented a blueprint of 'Seven Streams of Power' for building a 'Developed India'.
