NC Establishment Faction Accuses General Secretaries of Unnatural Leadership Grab

Kathmandu. The establishment-fringe faction of the Nepali Congress has made a serious allegation that then-General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma attempted to seize party leadership unnaturally and conspiratorially by resorting to a 'Gen Z' movement. The political report presented at the national gathering of the 15th General Convention Preparation Committee held at Miracle Party Venue in Sukedhara, Kathmandu, on July 15, 2024, deemed the General Secretaries' move as illegal and anarchic.

The report was presented by committee coordinator Bimalendra Nidhi at the gathering attended by former President Sher Bahadur Deuba and chaired by leader Dr. Shashank Koirala. The report strongly criticized the steps taken by then-General Secretaries Thapa and Sharma, linking them to the destructive incident of August 2023 and its immediate aftermath. Nidhi's report stated that the General Secretaries' excessive ambition had plunged the party into a whirlpool of discord.
