India's GST Changes: Nepali Business Owners Worried

Business owners in Nepal, especially those near the border, are very worried after the Indian government recently lowered its Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates. The GST Council in India changed the tax slabs. Previously, items were taxed at 5%, 12%, 18%, or 28%. Now, India has mainly kept two rates: 5% and 18%. Many items that were in the 12% slab have been moved to the 5% slab, and most items from the 18% slab remain there. This decision means the prices of many goods in India will automatically become cheaper.
