Nepal Police Establishes AI and Advanced Analytics Cell to Tackle Cybercrime and Misinformation

Kathmandu. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki has identified misinformation, disinformation, and cybercrime spreading through social media as emerging challenges for the Nepal Police, saying the force is expanding its use of technology and specialized manpower to address them.

In a video posted on the Nepal Police's Facebook page, Karki said the widespread easy access to social media has encouraged people to react instantly to information, which he said could affect Nepal's social harmony.
