Google Makes AI Watermarks Optional, Keeps Invisible SynthID Tracking in Place

Kathmandu. Google is introducing an option that will allow users to remove visible watermarks from AI-generated images and videos, while keeping invisible digital identifiers in place to help verify whether content was created using artificial intelligence.

The toggle will be available in Gemini and Google's AI video-generation and editing tool Flow, with the feature expected to reach AI features integrated into Google Search soon. Once available, users will be able to turn the visible watermark on or off through the Media Watermark option in settings.
