Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth Arrives in Kathmandu for Four-Day Visit

Kathmandu. At the formal invitation of Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel, Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth of friendly nation India has arrived in Kathmandu for a four-day visit.

His wife, Komal Seth, is also part of the five-member delegation. They were welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday by Balladhikrit Rathi Pradeepjang KC and his wife, the Directorate of Public Relations and Information said. During the visit, Army Chief Seth will be conferred the honorary rank of Mahabir of the Nepali Army by President Ramchandra Paudel at a special ceremony to be held today at the Presidential Palace, Shital Niwas. The tradition of conferring the honorary rank of Mahabir on the armies of both countries has been in place since 1950. Nepali Army Chief of Staff Ashokraj Sigdel has also received the honorary rank of Mahabir of the Indian Army. On December 12, Indian President Droupadi Murmu conferred the honorary rank of Mahabir on Chief of Army Staff Sigdel at a special ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in New Delhi. It has also been a tradition for the Chiefs of Army Staff of both countries to visit each other's country after their appointment. The Nepali Army has stated that this type of visit by high-ranking military officials of friendly nations will further help expand and strengthen military relations between the two countries.
