Chinese President Xi Jinping Visits Egypt Amid US Sanctions on Iran

Kathmandu. As US economic pressure on Iran intensifies, Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Egypt on a state visit on Tuesday. His visit to Egypt, the first in a decade, highlights the expansion of China-Egypt relations and Beijing's growing interest in Middle Eastern regional issues.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi welcomed Xi in Cairo on Tuesday. According to the Egyptian Presidential Office, discussions during the visit will focus on strengthening political, economic, and development cooperation between the two countries and on the implementation of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement reached in 2014. The two leaders are expected to exchange views on regional and international issues of interest.
