Leader of Mexico's CJNG Cartel Killed in Security Operation

Mexico City. Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes alias El Mencho, the leader of Mexico's most powerful drug cartel, Jalisco New Generation (CJNG), has been killed in a security operation. According to Mexico's Ministry of Defense, Mencho, who was seriously injured in the clash during his attempted arrest, died on Sunday while being transported to the capital, Mexico City.

Four criminals were killed and three soldiers were injured in a fierce clash between the army and cartel members in the city of Tapalpa in Jalisco state. The operation, based on special intelligence from US intelligence agencies, also involved Mexican special forces, the Air Force, and the National Guard.
