Department of Commerce Conducts Inspections on 26 Firms Amid Election Period to Curb Illegal Activities

Kathmandu. With the objective of stopping illegal activities in the market during the election period and protecting consumer rights, the Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection conducted inspections on 26 firms in a single day.

The department specifically inspected firms dealing in food grains and fruits, urging them to fully comply with the law. The department has become more active following complaints that issues such as hoarding food items, black marketing, and charging prices exceeding the set rates were observed under the pretext of the elections.
