National Folk Dohori Business Association Distributes Relief Materials to Flood-Affected Families in Nuwakot

Nuwakot. The National Folk Dohori Business Association has distributed relief materials to families affected by the devastating flood in the Bhote Koshi. The team, led by General Secretary Nandu Gharti Magar from the central office of the association in Mitranagar, Kathmandu, reached Sulakshana Secondary School in Ward No. 9 of Bidur Municipality on Bhadra 10 to distribute relief materials to families affected by the flood that occurred on Bhadra 10. The school has been used as a holding center to house families affected by the flood. The association stated that relief materials were provided to the affected families at the location, keeping in mind their immediate needs. The association provided 25 sets of blankets, 25 sets of mosquito nets, 25 pillows, 25 sets of mattresses, 25 sets of bedsheets, four gas cylinders, one set of stove, 50 packets of sanitary pads, and two sacks of dalmot and furungdana to the affected families under the leadership of affected individuals Kabindra Bhandari and Suraj Bhandari. The relief distribution team included former president Gunaraj Khanal, secretary Sunil Lamichhane, treasurer Ram Bhandari, and member Uttam Bhandari. Expressing sorrow over the loss suffered by the people of Nuwakot due to natural disasters, the association stated that the relief was distributed as part of its social responsibility. Upon receiving the relief materials, the victims said that while they had received food and ration supplies from other organizations and bodies, this was the first time they had received materials such as clothing, blankets, mattresses, and mosquito nets. They expressed that receiving the necessary materials brought some relief and happiness to the families staying at the holding center. The association's president, Deep Sagar Thapa Magar, said that it is the organization's social responsibility to stand by the affected citizens in times of disaster. "The National Folk Dohori Business Association stands with its members and affected citizens not only in good times but also in difficult and challenging situations," he said. Former president of the association, Gunaraj Khanal, said that the situation in the affected area was very painful upon direct observation. He stated that the team came to Nuwakot with the objective of reaching the affected families with immediately needed materials. Secretary Sunil Lamichhane said that the association has taken initiative to provide necessary materials to the flood-affected families for immediate relief. He said that along with relief distribution, efforts are being made to understand the condition of the affected families and to coordinate with the relevant bodies for future assistance. Meanwhile, the family of the association's treasurer, Ram Bhandari, has also been affected by the Bhote Koshi flood. His father and sister-in-law are still missing after the flood. Bhandari reached the affected area with the relief team amidst the pain of his relatives being missing. According to the association, two days ago, the association's team had reached the same area, conducted an on-site inspection, and also participated in search and rescue efforts. This time, relief was handed over to the affected families with immediately needed materials. The flood in the Bhote Koshi has caused significant loss of life and property in various parts of Nuwakot. Families who have lost their homes and property are currently staying in temporary shelters and holding centers. It is reported that there is still a need for food, clothing, bedding, and daily necessities in the affected areas. The National Folk Dohori Business Association has stated that it will continue relief and social responsibility programs in the coming days by identifying the needs of the affected areas.
