Joshua Wong Pleads Guilty to New National Security Charge in Hong Kong

Hong Kong. Prominent young leader of Hong Kong's democracy movement, Joshua Wong, has pleaded guilty to a new charge related to national security. With Wong pleading guilty during a hearing at Hong Kong's High Court on Wednesday, the possibility of him spending many more years in prison has increased.

Wong, 29, is accused of conspiring with other activists in 2020 to call for foreign sanctions against China and Hong Kong. China implemented a new national security law in Hong Kong that same year, which critics have described as a tool to curb the city's political freedoms and civil rights.
