Officer providing citizenship to Indian national remanded to custody

Kathmandu - Former administrative officer in Jhapa, Suresh Acharya, has been remanded to custody in accusation of his involvement in conferring Nepali citizenship to an Indian national based on fake documents. Jhapa District Court decided to send the accused one in custody for the further investigation. He is now kept in Jhapa jail.
When he was administrative officer at District Administration Office in Jhapa five years back, he had conferred the Nepali citizenship on an Indian national Mustapha Alam on November 26, 2015. The number of the citizenship given to the Indian national was 04-01-72-0390, according to information officer at District Police Office, Jhapa, Rakesh Thapa.
