Vice President Yadav Stresses EV Use to Curb Fuel Imports

Kathmandu. Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has emphasized the need to increase the use of electric vehicles (EVs) to stop the outflow of billions of rupees in fuel imports. Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 18th NADA Auto Show 2026, Vice President Yadav stated that the use of electric vehicles is the most intelligent and sustainable solution for the country.

Connecting to the context of Nepal being rich in water resources and rapidly advancing in hydropower production, he said that dependence on imports of fuels like petrol and diesel should be reduced. "The widespread use of electric vehicles will directly help reduce dependence on fuel imports and decrease the country's trade deficit," said Vice President Yadav. "By increasing the consumption of domestic clean energy, EVs are highly useful in keeping the country's wealth within the country and reducing the operating costs for consumers."
