Kathmandu. The Inland Revenue Department has brought a new version of the 'Taxpayer Portal' into trial use with the objective of making the services provided to taxpayers easier, simpler, and more effective. The department started this from Tuesday. According to the department's Director General, Dr. Bhishmakumar Bhusal, the old taxpayer portal will continue to operate as usual until the trial of the new portal is successful. The department has stated that this portal has been developed based on the 'design-driven development' method and 'microservice architecture'. With the launch of the new portal, taxpayers will receive many facilities online. While the monthly statements submitted by excise-related establishments were previously verified only by the Inland Revenue Office, arrangements have now been made for taxpayers to verify them themselves. Under the income statement (DE-04), the provision where taxpayers had to fill in Schedule 10 has been modified, and now this statement will come automatically. Similarly, arrangements have been made to submit the details of tax deducted at source on a monthly basis. Foreign investors will be able to apply for permanent account number registration online. Taxpayers will be able to log in to the portal and download their permanent account number card, excise permit, and tax clearance certificate themselves. Services related to the amendment of Value Added Tax statements have also been included in the portal. The department has taken precautions that some minor technical problems may arise while using this portal as it is in the trial phase. Director General Dr. Bhusal has expressed a commitment to simplify the portal's design and manage additional necessary facilities soon, keeping in mind the convenience of the taxpayers.
