Army Helicopter Lands at Upper Trishuli 3 'A' Hydropower Project After Flood Damage

Kathmandu. A Nepali Army helicopter has successfully landed today to rescue the stranded employees at the Upper Trishuli 3 'A' Hydropower Project, which was devastated by the destructive flood in Bhote Koshi. The actual damage and situation there has started to be assessed on-site after the helicopter landed at the project site today, even though the landing attempt was unsuccessful twice yesterday due to adverse weather. Honorable Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, has directed to adopt all necessary measures to resume rescue and electricity service as soon as possible and to advance the work at a rapid pace. In accordance with Minister Shrestha's directive, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha, has been working in the field since early morning to observe the on-site situation, coordinate rescue, and effectively restore electricity. A high-level team led by him, including Deputy Executive Director Kiran Kumar Shrestha, Chief of Distribution and Customer Service Directorate and Spokesperson Rajan Dhakal, and Chief Executive Officer of NEA Engineering Company, Chirantan Bikram Rana, has been deployed in the affected area. Alternative electricity supply is being restored to the affected areas after the electricity infrastructure was damaged by the Bhote Koshi flood. Nepal Electricity Authority has already restored electricity service to the areas of Nuwakot including Kharani tar, Samudragtar, Chaugada, Likhu, and Panchkanya through an alternative line connected from Sindhupalchok. During the on-site inspection by the high-level team to restore electricity in other affected areas of Nuwakot, it has been found possible to restore electricity supply by charging the 66 KV line to 11 KV. Accordingly, the technical team has intensified the necessary preparations and work in the field to restore electricity supply by charging the Chapali-Devighat 66 KV line and Balaju-Trishuli 66 KV line to 11 KV. Nepal Electricity Authority is continuing its efforts to restore electricity service in the affected areas as soon as possible by using all available alternative technical measures.
