More than 1,250 Dengue cases reported in Kathmandu Valley only

KATHMANDU, Aug 30: Hospitals in Kathmandu Valley are witnessing an overwhelming number of Dengue cases in recent days. More than 150 to 300 people visit the Kathmandu-based Bir Hospital daily and most of them test positive for Dengue, according to Dr Sailendra Shrestha. “Of them, around 25 percent of people get admitted to the hospital for treatment.”
Likewise, the Teku-based Sukraraj Raj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital is also witnessing an overwhelming number of Dengue cases recently. According to Nawaraj Gautam, information officer at the hospital, more than 50 people visit the hospital daily with symptoms of Dengue. “Most of them test positive.” Currently, four Dengue patients are undergoing treatment in the ICU, two in the cabin and 15 in the general ward, according to information officer Shrestha.
