Decision not to call Nepal a federal democratic republic is an attack on the system, experts say

The government’s recent decision to refer to the country just as ‘Nepal’ is unconstitutional and against the spirit of federalism, they argue.
Article 56 (1) of Nepal’s constitution reads: “The main structure of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal shall be of three levels, namely the Federation, the State and the Local level”, thus indicating the nation’s official name.
