Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association Delegation Meets Rabi Lamichhane Over Malaysia Recruitment Concerns

Kathmandu. A delegation of the Nepal Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association met with the Chairman of the National Independent Party, Rabi Lamichhane. The association has drawn Lamichhane's attention to the attempt to create a syndicate by including only a limited number of organizations in Malaysia's labor recruitment process. The delegation, led by the association's chairman, Dick Bahadur Khatri, met with Chairman Lamichhane and discussed policy reforms in the foreign employment sector and the emerging monopoly in Malaysia employment. During the meeting, the entrepreneurs strongly objected to the attempt to include only 25 foreign employment business organizations through FWCS in the labor recruitment process of Malaysia, a major destination country for Nepali workers, and to keep other entrepreneurs out of the process. The association has raised serious questions about the authenticity, selection criteria, transparency, impartiality, and reliability of this arrangement. After hearing the entrepreneurs' grievances, RSP Chairman Lamichhane stated that he has taken this matter seriously. He has pledged to take initiative from his side to conduct an impartial investigation into the selection of only limited organizations in Malaysia employment and to take legal action against the concerned individuals or organizations found guilty to the fullest extent. The association's representatives warned that any attempt to establish monopoly, unhealthy competition, and influence of a limited group in the foreign employment sector could negatively impact the workers, entrepreneurs, and the labor relations between the two countries. The association's clear stance is that the entire process should be transparent, competitive, and provide equal opportunities to all. During the discussion, policy reform issues necessary to make the overall foreign employment sector more respected, dignified, organized, and worker-friendly were also discussed. Both sides appeared to agree on the need for cooperation between political parties, the government, and all stakeholders for the benefit of the workers, equal rights of entrepreneurs, and institutional reform in this sector.
