Press Council Nepal Staff Protest Over Dearness Allowance

Kathmandu. Press Council Nepal staff have staged a sit-in protest in the office premises demanding equal dearness allowance. They have taken to the streets demanding justice, stating that the allowance decided to be provided by the Nepal government has been stopped for a long time. The employees staged a sit-in at the main gate as soon as the office opened this morning. Permanent employees have started protesting, expressing dissatisfaction that dearness allowance has not been provided since last February. They complain that their financial burden has increased due to the long-standing stoppage of dearness allowance and that the leadership has not shown interest even in such a situation. One of the protesting employees said that they were forced to resort to protest as the problem was not resolved despite repeatedly drawing the attention of the concerned bodies. Regarding this matter, Chief Administrative Officer of Press Council Nepal, Jhabindra Bhusal, informed that discussions have been held repeatedly regarding the employees not receiving the allowance and efforts are being made to release the budget. He said that the employees might be anxious that the allowance might not come at all because it has taken a long time for the budget to arrive.
