Youth Representation Soars in Parliament Following Recent Elections

Kathmandu. Youth have made a spectacular showing in the House of Representatives elections held on Falgun 21. More than 100 youths have been elected through both the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) and Proportional Representation (PR) systems combined.

This time, there is a significant presence of young parliamentarians in the federal parliament, which has historically been dominated by older, gray-haired leaders. The 'National Youth Policy, 2082' defines the population aged 16 to 40 as 'youth'. However, the provision for being elected as a member of parliament requires a minimum age of 25.
