Of late, Nepali Congress leaders have publicly emphasised the need for a change in the current mixed electoral system to ensure political stability in the country. They argue that the two largest parties—the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML—should now join hands to reform this system. The UML leaders haven’t opposed the idea.
