Italy Suspends Long-Standing Defense Agreement with Israel

Rome. Italy has decided to suspend its long-standing defense agreement with Israel. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced that the government will not proceed with the critical agreement, which focused on the exchange of military equipment and technological research.

Speaking at an event in Verona, Meloni stated that, given the current circumstances, the government has decided to halt the automatic renewal process of the defense pact with Israel. The agreement, ratified by Israel in 2006, contained a provision for automatic renewal every five years.
