UN Peacekeeper Killed in Bomb Blast at Post in Southern Lebanon

Al-Kusayr. One peacekeeper was killed in a bomb explosion at a post belonging to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) deployed in Lebanon. Another soldier was seriously injured in the explosion that occurred on March 29 at the military post near the southern Lebanese village of Adchit Al-Kusayr. UNIFIL confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday morning.

It has not yet been revealed where or by whom the explosive device (projectile) was fired. The United Nations mission has stated that it has launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the facts of the incident. UNIFIL monitors the border area of southern Lebanon, which is considered the center of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah fighters.
