Rasuwa Flood Causes Major Damage, Thousands Missing

Rasuwa. A massive flood in the Bhote Koshi river from the Nepal-China border area has caused great loss of life and property in Rasuwa. Due to the flood originating from the Lhende stream, 1,313 people have been rescued alive so far in the district, while 3,071 people are still missing.

According to Deputy Chief District Officer and Information Officer Dhruv Prasad Adhikari, 1,227 Nepalis and 86 foreign tourists affected by the flood and landslides have been successfully rescued with the active participation of security personnel and locals. 145 pilgrims and locals stranded due to the flood and stopped in the Gosainkunda area have been safely relocated to Nuwakot and Kathmandu by helicopter. Helicopters have been used for relief and rescue in remote areas disconnected from the road network.
