Himalayan glaciers provide water to hundreds of millions of people, but they’re melting faster because of climate change and threatening level of pollution, which is likely to get only worse if actions are not taken in time.
Black carbon deposits coming from industries, vehicles, and cooking practices aggravate climate change’s adverse impacts to accelerate the melting of glaciers in the Himalayas, the Hindu Kush, and the Karakorum (HKHK) ranges, a new World Bank report has concluded.
