Bagmati Province Chief Minister Baniya Announces Administrative Cost-Cutting Measures

Hetauda. Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya has stated that the government is moving forward with a concrete action plan focused on expenditure reduction and good governance. During an interaction with journalists at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers today, Chief Minister Baniya announced that the provincial government is in the final stages of reducing unnecessary administrative expenses.

He noted that preparations are underway to reduce the number of provincial ministries from 14 to eight, including the Chief Minister's office. Chief Minister Baniya stated that to build a fiscally disciplined and governance-oriented province, the government has initiated the process of cutting 701 staff positions and abolishing unnecessary boards, committees, and five out of seven directorates. He also mentioned that the provincial government has adopted a strict policy prohibiting ministers and employees from undertaking foreign visits at the state's expense.
