Private Sector Expresses Concern Over Flood Impact on Pokhara Tourism

Kaski. The private sector has expressed concern that the devastating flood in the Bhote Koshi River on August 10 is beginning to have a negative impact on the tourism and overall economy of Pokhara, the tourist capital of the country.

At the inauguration ceremony of the 36th General Convention of the Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Saturday, industrialists and tourism entrepreneurs present emphasized the need to convey the message to the international market that Nepal's other tourist destinations, apart from the disaster-affected areas, are safe and operational. Mentioning that a negative message has gone out as if the entire country has become unsafe due to the disaster, they stressed the need to disseminate the message that Pokhara is safe and a suitable destination for travel.
