Department of Transport Management Clarifies Fare Hike Does Not Apply to Electric Vehicles

Kathmandu. The Department of Transport Management has clarified that the recently increased public transport fares do not apply to electric vehicles. The department issued a notice stating that the fare hike is only applicable to vehicles using diesel engines.

Following the rise in petroleum prices in the international market, the fare for inter-provincial public transport was increased effective from Chaitra 25, in accordance with the automated fare adjustment system. However, the department stated that this increase only applies to diesel-powered passenger and cargo vehicles.
