Civil Movement Warns Government Against Forced Eviction of Squatter Settlements

Kathmandu. The Civil Movement has expressed serious concern over the government's preparations to forcibly clear squatter settlements, warning against the use of force and repression.

In a press release issued on Thursday, the movement strongly objected to the Prime Minister's direct order to security agencies to clear the settlements. It is alleged that while the 100-point governance reform agenda passed by the Council of Ministers commits to a sustainable solution through the verification and rehabilitation of the landless and squatters, the Prime Minister himself is attempting to trample upon it.
