775 Electric Vehicles Seized for Customs Evasion Remain Under Security Control

Pokhara. Armed Police Force Nepal has kept 775 electric vehicles (EVs) seized on suspicion of being smuggled into Nepal through Mustang's Korala border under security control. The arrested vehicles are being kept under strict surveillance of the armed police at various locations from the border to Pokhara. Among them, 96 electric vehicles are kept under the direct supervision of armed police in Suikhet, Ward No. 25 of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Kaski, while the remaining vehicles are kept in other safe locations. Armed Police Force's special team had simultaneously taken control of these vehicles from various areas including Jomsom in Mustang, Kushma in Parbat, and Hemja in Kaski on the 28th of Jestha. Armed police had conducted a joint operation after receiving special information that electric vehicles were being smuggled into Nepal in large quantities by evading customs procedures through the Korala border. Special teams from Armed Police Force Nepal No. 33 Gulm Mustang, Magdi Gulm, No. 25 Chandika Gan Parbat, and No. 24 Kalika Gan Kaski were mobilized for the large operation. Following the seizure of such a large number of vehicles, the government has formed an investigation committee to ascertain the reality of this incident. The committee has started a detailed investigation into whether the seized vehicles were imported legally or smuggled by evading customs procedures. All vehicles will remain under armed police surveillance until the final investigation report is submitted.
