Kathmandu. On the final day of the 16th Central President Running Shield Sports Competition on Friday, Bagmati Province won the most 11 gold medals in athletics. Bagmati also secured 7 silver and 5 bronze medals along with the gold. Athletics had competitions in 26 different events. In which Sudurpaschim Province secured second place by winning 8 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals. Similarly, Lumbini Province won 5 gold, 9 silver, and 5 bronze, Gandaki Province won 2 gold, 2 silver, and 7 bronze, and Karnali Province won 1 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals. Koshi Province was forced to settle for 2-2 silver and bronze medals without winning any gold, while Madhesh Province could not win any medals.
In the final day's competition held at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureswor, the finals of 8 events were held. In the boys' 200m race, Lumbini's Bhagwandas Lohar finished first in 22.64 seconds. In the girls' category of the same event, Lumbini's Garima Chaudhary won gold by clocking 27.37 seconds. Anil Shahi of Karnali became first in the boys' 3000m race in 9 minutes 20.1 seconds, while in the girls' category, Anjuli Mall of Lumbini won gold by completing the distance in 11 minutes 03.6 seconds.
