बलुचिस्तानमा रेललाई निशाना बनाएर गरिएको शक्तिशाली विस्फोटमा २४ जनाको मृत्यु

काठमाडौं। पाकिस्तानको अशान्त दक्षिणपश्चिमी प्रान्त बलुचिस्तानमा रेललाई निशाना बनाएर गरिएको शक्तिशाली विस्फोटमा कम्तीमा २४ जनाको मृत्यु र ५० भन्दा बढी घाइते भएका छन्।

सैनिक कर्मचारी र उनीहरूका परिवार बोकेको रेललाई निशाना बनाएर आइतबार विस्फोट गराईएको थियो।

प्रान्तीय राजधानी क्वेटा नजिकै भएको उक्त आक्रमणपछि घटनास्थलमा ठूलो क्षति पुगेको छ र उद्धार कार्य जारी रहेको बताइएको छ।

प्राप्त तस्बिरहरूमा रेलका डिब्बा पल्टिएको र क्षतिग्रस्त अवस्थामा देखिएको छ, जहाँ स्थानीय बासिन्दा र उद्धारकर्मीहरू भग्नावशेषमा फसेका मानिसहरूको खोजी गरिरहेका छन्। घाइते तथा मृतकलाई स्ट्रेचरमार्फत सुरक्षित स्थानमा सारिँदै गरेको दृश्य पनि देखिएको छ भने सुरक्षा बलले घटनास्थलमा कडा पहरा दिएको छ।

अधिकारीका अनुसार क्वेटाबाट पेशावरतर्फ जाँदै गरेको उक्त रेलले चमन क्षेत्रको पटरी पार गरिरहेको बेला विस्फोटक पदार्थ बोकेको एक सवारीसाधनले रेलको डिब्बासँग ठक्कर दिएपछि ठूलो विस्फोट भएको थियो। विस्फोटका कारण रेलका झ्यालहरू फुटेका थिए र नजिकका केही डिब्बा पूर्ण रूपमा क्षतिग्रस्त भएका थिए।

अर्का अधिकारीले एएफपीलाई बताएअनुसार उक्त रेलमा सवार सैनिकहरू आगामी मङ्गलबारदेखि सुरु हुने ईद बिदा मनाउन परिवारसहित यात्रा गरिरहेका थिए।

बलुचिस्तान पाकिस्तानको क्षेत्रफलका हिसाबले सबैभन्दा ठूलो तर विकासका सूचकाङ्कहरूमा देशकै सबैभन्दा पछाडि रहेको प्रान्त मानिन्छ।

यहाँका बलुच पृथकतावादी समूहहरूले केन्द्र सरकारले स्थानीय जनतालाई लाभ नदिई प्राकृतिक ग्यास र खनिज स्रोतहरूको दोहन गरेको आरोप लगाउँदै आएका छन्, जसका कारण लामो समयदेखि सुरक्षा चुनौती कायम रहेको छ।

Kathmandu. At least 24 people have been killed and more than 50 injured in a powerful explosion targeting a train in Pakistan's restive southwestern province of Balochistan.

A train carrying military personnel and their families was targeted by a bomb on Sunday.

The attack, which took place near the provincial capital Quetta, caused extensive damage at the scene and rescue operations are ongoing.

Images show overturned and damaged train carriages, with local residents and rescue workers searching for people trapped in the rubble. The injured and dead were also seen being carried to safety on stretchers, while security forces have cordoned off the scene.

According to the official, the train, which was travelling from Quetta to Peshawar, was crossing the tracks in the Chaman area when a vehicle carrying explosives hit a train carriage. The explosion shattered the train's windows and completely damaged some nearby carriages.

Another official told AFP that the soldiers on the train were traveling with their families to celebrate the Eid holiday, which begins next Tuesday.

Balochistan is the largest province in Pakistan in terms of area, but is considered the country's most backward in terms of development indicators.

Baloch separatist groups here have been accusing the central government of exploiting natural gas and mineral resources without benefiting the local people, which has long been a security challenge.
