Kathmandu. Hearing has started in the Supreme Court on the petitions filed against the rejection of the Constitutional Council's decision to recommend Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma as the Chief Justice.

Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, advocate Geeta Thapa and Premraj Silwal had filed separate petitions in the court demanding a hearing on the Supreme Court administration's decision to reject the writs they had filed. The hearing is underway in the single bench of Justice Meghraj Pokharel. After the debate concludes, a decision will be made on whether to order the registration of the writ or uphold the rejection.

The Supreme Court Registrar's administrative order on May 8 had rejected three writs filed against the recommendation of the Chief Justice. Against this, the Supreme Court administration held the petitions for a week and registered them after the appointment and oath of the Chief Justice.
