Biratnagar. The obstruction in the Koshi Province Assembly, which has been ongoing since Jestha 12, has ended with an agreement between the parties. The deadlock was resolved in a meeting of the Business Management Consultation Committee held today before the Province Assembly meeting.
The deadlock ended with an agreement that the Speaker would correct the announcement that the policy and program presented by the provincial government in the parliament was passed unanimously by the Province Assembly, and that the Speaker would read out the said agreement in the Province Assembly meeting. In accordance with that agreement, Speaker Ambar Bahadur Bist read it out in the assembly.
The opposition party, the Nepali Communist Party, had been obstructing the Province Assembly meeting since then, demanding a correction to the announcement that the policy and program were passed unanimously despite their disagreement, and that the policy and program were passed without providing time for amendment.
Due to this, the provincial government could not present the principles and priorities of the budget, which should be presented in the house 15 days before bringing the budget. With the end of this deadlock, the principles and priorities of the budget have been presented in the Province Assembly and discussions are ongoing.
