Petrol Tanker Found Unattended in Sunsari, 973 Liters Stolen

Kathmandu. A tanker carrying petrol, which was missing from the parking lot near the Koshi Provincial Office of Nepal Oil Corporation, Biratnagar, has been found unattended in Sunsari. After it was confirmed that 973 liters of petrol were stolen from the tanker carrying 20,000 liters of petrol, the corporation has taken action against the transporter and recovered double the amount.

The Koshi Provincial Office of the corporation released a press statement on Wednesday, making public the detailed information of this incident. According to the statement, the tanker with number Ko 1 Kha 6190 of Naveen Transport Service Pvt. Ltd. loaded 20,000 liters of petrol from the Indian Oil Corporation's Siliguri depot on Asar 6.

The tanker arrived at the parking lot located at Kadmagachhi, about 300 meters away from the corporation's depot, at 8 am on Asar 7. However, on the morning of Asar 8, the transporter informed the corporation that the tanker was missing.

The corporation immediately informed the police and upon studying the CCTV footage, it was seen that the tanker left the parking lot at 3:03 am and went towards Nobel Hospital. Intensifying the search, the tanker was found unattended on the Hulasi highway in Bhokraha Rural Municipality-8, Sunsari district, about 17 kilometers away from the corporation. When found, the tanker's lock was cut.

Immediately, a panchnama was prepared in the presence of the police, corporation employees, and the transporter, and the tanker was brought to the corporation's parking lot and sealed.

On Wednesday at 1 pm, in the presence of representatives from the District Administration Office, Morang, District Police Office, Morang, journalists, the corporation, and the transporter, the seal was broken and measurements were taken, revealing that 973 liters of petrol were stolen from the tanker. The remaining 19,027 liters of petrol were poured into the corporation's storage.

After it was found that petrol was stolen, the corporation has recovered double the amount of the stolen quantity from the transporter in accordance with the provisions of the 'Petroleum Products Transportation Regulations, 2073', informed Office Chief Pushkar Karki.
