French Model Scout Daniel Scias Found Dead Amid Investigation

Kathmandu. 69-year-old Daniel Scias, accused of aiding in the sexual exploitation and human trafficking of women, has been found dead during the investigation. A French model scout with close ties to the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Daniel Scias, was found dead in his own home, French prosecutors announced. The 69-year-old Scias was found dead in his residence in the Colombes area near Paris on Monday, French Deputy Public Prosecutor Marie-Celine Lafaurie informed on Wednesday. Scias was one of the French individuals accused of assisting Epstein in the human trafficking and sexual exploitation of women. Many women have stated that Scias introduced them to Epstein, after which Epstein sexually abused them. However, Scias claimed that Epstein betrayed him and that he had no reason to know that Epstein was a 'dangerous sex offender'. Scias was under investigation in France for rape and human trafficking charges. He had denied all these allegations. Prosecutors in Nanterre, near Paris, stated that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of Scias's death and that an autopsy will be performed. Scias's name is mentioned in approximately 2,000 documents from the declassified Epstein files released by the US Department of Justice. According to those documents, Scias regularly sent photos of women he met during his travels to Epstein. Claimed innocence. Scias's death occurred before French investigators could take his formal statement. He had stated that he denied all charges against him and wanted an opportunity to present his side of the story. His lawyer claimed that Scias died as an innocent person. 'If his death was due to a heart attack, the unbearable waiting, constant pressure, and daily worries may have played a role,' his lawyer Menya Arab-Tigrine told AFP. France's second person linked to Epstein dies. Scias is not the first person linked to Epstein in the modeling industry to die suddenly in France. In 2022, modeling agent Jean-Luc Brunel committed suicide by hanging himself in prison. He was accused of providing women for the American billionaire Epstein. Epstein himself was found dead in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges in the US. US authorities concluded his death was a suicide. 'Another link to uncovering the truth is lost.' Victims' statements suggest Scias was an important person who could have revealed the truth about the Epstein-related incident. Former French model Juliette G., who claims Scias introduced her to Epstein in 2004, said, 'Another important link in the chain who could help bring out the truth and identify those responsible is now lost.' She requested her last name not be published to protect her privacy. Similarly, former Swedish model Ebba Carlson, now over fifty, filed the first complaint against Scias in February. She alleges that Scias raped her when she was 20 years old. 'This is very disappointing,' Carlson told AFP. 'He was on the verge of being arrested. We had worked very hard to get justice.'
