Taplejung. A massive goodwill rally has been taken out in Phungling, the district headquarters of Taplejung, demanding the immediate progress of the construction work of the Pathibhara Cable Car Project.
The rally, organized by the 'Development-Promoting Youth Society', saw significant participation from locals, various organizations, and stakeholders.
Participants demanded that the construction work be continued, saying that the Pathibhara Cable Car Project would make a significant contribution to the promotion of religious tourism, job creation, marketing of local products, infrastructure development, and overall development of the local economy.
The rally, which circled around Phungling Bazaar, reached Birendra Chowk and turned into a meeting.
At the program, heads and representatives of various organizations, stakeholders, and local bodies urged that the cable car be completed as soon as possible, stating that it is not only a means of transportation but also an important infrastructure for development.
They were of the view that infrastructure such as cable cars, hydropower, and roads would contribute to the economic development and prosperity of not only Taplejung but also the entire Koshi Province and the country, and therefore, there should be no obstacles to development and construction work.
Speakers at the meeting urged the government to create an environment for the speedy completion of the construction work, stating that it would not be appropriate to stop the work when about 60 percent of the project has been completed.
Although there has been talk of a cable car project to reach Pathibhara Devi Temple for decades, its construction has not materialized for various reasons. The construction work has moved forward after the IME Group took the lead on the project a few years ago.
According to the construction side, about 60 percent of the work of the Pathibhara Cable Car Project has been completed. It is said that a goodwill rally was organized demanding the continuation of the project while there was talk of a possible suspension of the construction work.
