Kathmandu. Various student organizations have expressed objection, stating that Tribhuvan University (TU) has defied the Supreme Court's order. In a joint statement issued on Monday, these organizations expressed objection to TU's move. They allege that under the direction of the government led by Balen Shah, TU, on May 11, disregarded the interim order issued by the Supreme Court on May 11 and issued a directive to 'remove the structures of party student organizations'. Student organizations have interpreted this move by the government as a direct interference in judicial dignity, constitutional system, and democratic rights, as well as an open attack on students' organizational and freedom of expression. The statement mentions that the Ministry of Education, University Grants Commission, and TU have dared to place themselves above the law while cases against the Government of Nepal's decision regarding 'ban on student organizations' and the decisions of TU's meeting are currently sub-judice in the Supreme Court. The joint statement, signed by the heads of 10 student organizations including All Nepal National Free Students Union, All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary), All Nepal National Students Union (Socialist), has warned to immediately withdraw the decisions. It has also warned that if the TU administration does not correct its arbitrary and unconstitutional move, it will face strong resistance through legal, ideological, and struggle, and the administration itself will be responsible for the resulting situation.
