Prisoner Ram Jai Maurya, who escaped from two jails twice, re-arrested in Kapilvastu

Kapilvastu. A prisoner who had escaped from two different jails twice while serving a sentence for a murder case has been re-arrested by the police.

The police have arrested 58-year-old Ram Jai Maurya, a resident of the former Udaipur Village Development Committee Ward No. 8 and currently Maharajganj Municipality Ward No. 6 Banjarariya in the district, from Krishnanagar, Kapilvastu. Maurya's crime and escape spree from prison had been going on for a long time. The Kapilvastu District Court had sentenced him to 5 years imprisonment on January 22, 2007, and 20 years imprisonment on January 19, 2009, for the murder case. After that verdict, he was sent to the District Prison Kapilvastu to serve the remaining sentence. However, on January 14, 2010, at 1 AM, Maurya and a group of eight people escaped from the prison by digging a tunnel in a cinematic style.
