Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) MP Tahir Ali Bhat has drawn the government's attention to the increasing trend of youth committing self-immolation and suicide due to bank loans and financial interest rates. Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, MP Bhat stated that citizens are under extreme mental stress due to debt and unemployment.
Speaking in parliament, MP Bhat said that youth like Ganesh Nepali had to come to Kathmandu due to unemployment and faced the painful situation of having to commit self-immolation due to inability to repay loans. 'After Ganesh Nepali's self-immolation, three other youths have already committed suicide,' he said. 'In Nepal, a situation has arisen where an average of 18 people lose their lives daily due to the mental stress of bank loans and financial interest rates. If this is not stopped immediately, the country will be pushed towards a serious crisis.'
