Kathmandu. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called on the concerned parties to adopt diplomatic measures to establish lasting peace in the Middle East, stating that repeated attacks have endangered the ceasefire.

In a social media post on X, Secretary-General Guterres mentioned that the Middle East is in a deep crisis due to a long war, and its impact extends beyond the region. He stated that the recent increase in attacks has further worsened the situation, with shelling continuing even during the ceasefire. He urged all parties to avoid aggression and reduce further risks. He emphasized that all parties should play a role in finding a diplomatic solution and that attacks should not be carried out under any pretext.

Amidst the rapidly developing conflict situation in West Asia and the Gulf region, the air defense systems of Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain have issued warnings to intercept aerial targets.

Major developments in the conflict have advanced after Iranian officials announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to American attacks.

Citing Iran's IRGC, Al Jazeera reported that 18 American military areas, including Kuwait's Ali Al-Salem and Ahmad Al-Jaber, and Bahrain's Sheikh Isa Air Base, have been targeted in response to American attacks.

As tensions rise, IRGC Commander General Sayyed Majid Mousavi warned the United States, stating that if the US continues to threaten the security of the Strait of Hormuz, the region will be turned into a battlefield, Press TV reported.
