Record Number of Foreign Climbers Secure Permits for Spring Expeditions

Kathmandu. The number of foreigners securing permits for various Himalayan expeditions this spring season is on the rise.

According to the Department of Tourism, 1,181 climbers from 79 countries have obtained permits for Himalayan expeditions in the spring season of 2026. Information Officer of the Department, Himal Gautam, informed that the highest number of permits have been granted for climbing Mount Everest. So far, 494 climbers from 55 countries have obtained permits for climbing Mount Everest.
