Kathmandu. An argument broke out between Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) MP Ashika Tamang and traffic police at Thapathali Chowk in Kathmandu. Ashika was angry after the police did not allow her vehicle to proceed even after the green light was on.

The incident took place around 3 pm today. While Ashika was returning from a meeting, her car stopped at a red light in front of Thapathali Chowk. After a while, the light turned green and when she tried to move forward, the traffic police signaled her to stop. She stopped the car saying that people were moving around at the zebra crossing.

Ashika was in the driver's seat inside the car. When the car stopped right in front of the zebra crossing, she opened the window and called the traffic police. She asked the police why they didn't control the people when the light turned green. However, she says the police, who were chewing gutkha, did not give a proper answer.

"I asked the question not as an MP, but as an ordinary passenger, but he did not give any importance to my question," says Ashika.

After arguing with the traffic policeman for a while, Ashika got out of the car, saying, "Is there such injustice?" Another traffic policeman was cutting tickets on the other side. Ashika talked to him. Perhaps the policeman recognized Ashika. After he assured the policeman who had argued that he would remind him, Ashika got back in the car and went on her way.

Talking to Nepal Press on this issue, Ashika said, 'Anywhere in the world, vehicles move forward when the light turns green. However, the police have been treating drivers like this at Thapathali Chowk for a long time. That is why I protested. I personally have no prejudice against them.'
