पाल्मर र फोडेनलाई बाहिर राख्दै इंग्ल्याण्डको टोली घोषणा

काठमाडौं। कोल पाल्मर र फिल फोडेनलाई बाहिर राख्दै थोमस टुकेलले इङ्ग्ल्यान्डको विश्वकप टोली घोषणा गरेका छन्।

रियल मड्रिडका ट्रेन्ट अलेक्जेन्डर–आर्नोल्ड पनि शुक्रबार घोषणा गरिएको टोलीमा परेनन् भने साउदी क्लब अल–अहलीका स्ट्राइकर इभान टोनीलाई अप्रत्याशित रूपमा टोलीमा समेटिएको छ।

चेल्सीमा रहँदा च्याम्पियन्स लिग जिताएका थोमस टुकेललाई इङ्ग्ल्यान्डको ६० वर्ष लामो ठूलो अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय उपाधि जित्ने प्रतीक्षा अन्त्य गर्ने जिम्मेवारीसहित नियुक्त गरिएको हो।

पूर्व पेरिस सेन्ट–जर्मेन (पिएसजी) र बायर्न म्युनिखका प्रशिक्षक टुकेलले केही साहसी निर्णय गरेका छन्। आगामी साताहरूमा ‘थ्री लायन्स’ उपाधिबाट चुक्यो भने ती निर्णयको कडा समीक्षा हुने निश्चित छ।

फिल फोडेन र कोल पाल्मरले युरो २०२४ मा इङ्ग्ल्यान्डलाई फाइनलसम्म पुर्‍याउन महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका खेलेका थिए।

तर म्यानचेस्टर सिटीका फोडेन र चेल्सीका प्लेमेकर पाल्मरले क्लबस्तरमा खराब सिजन बिताएकाले टोलीबाट बाहिरिनुपरेको हो।

नटिङ्घम फरेस्टका मिडफिल्डर मोर्गन गिब्स–ह्वाइट र लिड्स युनाइटेडका स्ट्राइकर डोमिनिक काल्भर्ट–लुइनलाई पनि टोलीमा राखिएको छैन, जबकि उनीहरू यस सिजन प्रिमियर लिगमा सबैभन्दा धेरै गोल गर्ने इंग्लिस खेलाडीमध्ये परेका थिए।

अनुभवी ब्रेन्टफोर्ड मिडफिल्डर तथा पूर्व लिभरपुल कप्तान जोर्डन हेन्डरसनलाई भने क्रिस्टल प्यालेसका एडम व्हार्टनको स्थानमा टोलीमा समेटिएको छ।

टुकेलले विश्वकपका लागि अमेरिका जाने टोलीमा नपर्ने जानकारी खेलाडीलाई दिनु निकै कठिन रहेको बताए।

उनले भने, “यो कठिन थियो, कतिपय अवस्थामा निकै पीडादायी पनि। फोन संवादका क्रममा मैले उनीहरूको भावनासमेत महसुस गरें।”

उनले थपे, “क्याम्पमा हामीसँग रहेका सबै खेलाडीलाई मैले कम्तीमा एकपटक फोन गरें। उनीहरूले गरेको योगदानप्रति सम्मान र प्रशंसा देखाउन चाहन्थें।”

टुकेलले आफू अमेरिका जाने विमान चढ्न र “प्रशिक्षकको भूमिकामा पूर्ण रूपमा उत्रिन” उत्साहित रहेको पनि बताए।

उनले भने, “अहिले म राहत, उत्साह र तयारीको मिश्रित अवस्थाम छु। खेलाडीहरूको उत्साह देखेपछि र निर्णय अन्तिम भएपछि स्पष्टता आउँछ र नयाँ ऊर्जा प्राप्त हुन्छ।”

म्यानचेस्टर युनाइटेडका डिफेन्डर ह्यारी म्याग्वायरले बिहीबार आफू टोलीमा नपरेकोमा स्तब्ध भएको बताएका थिए।

३३ वर्षीय म्याग्वायरले सामाजिक सञ्जालमा लेखेका छन्, “मैले बिताएको सिजनका आधारमा यो समरमा देशका लागि महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका खेल्न सक्छु भन्नेमा विश्वस्त थिएँ।”

उनले थपे, “यो निर्णयले मलाई स्तब्ध र अत्यन्त निराश बनाएको छ।”

म्याग्वायरका म्यानचेस्टर युनाइटेडकै सहकर्मी लुक श पनि टोलीमा परेका छैनन्।

टुकेलले चोटका कारण प्रभावित सिजनका बाबजुद जोन स्टोन्सलाई टोलीमा राख्ने जोखिम उठाएका छन्। उनी यस सिजन म्यानचेस्टर सिटीमा धेरै खेल्न सकेका थिएनन्।

इभान टोनीले दुई वर्षअघि युरो प्रतियोगितामा बेन्चबाट आएर प्रभाव छोडेका थिए। तर सन् २०२४ मा साउदी अरब गएपछि उनले अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय फुटबलमा जम्मा दुई मिनेट मात्र खेलेका छन्।

इङ्ग्ल्यान्डले जुन १७ मा डलासमा क्रोएसियाविरुद्ध खेल्दै विश्वकप यात्रा सुरु गर्नेछ। त्यसपछि जुन २३ मा घाना र चार दिनपछि पानामासँग प्रतिस्पर्धा गर्नेछ।

Kathmandu. Thomas Tuchel has announced England's World Cup squad, leaving out Cole Palmer and Phil Foden.

Real Madrid's Trent Alexander-Arnold was also left out of the squad announced on Friday, while Saudi club Al-Ahly striker Ivan Toni was unexpectedly included in the squad.

Thomas Tuchel, who won the Champions League while at Chelsea, has been appointed with the responsibility of ending England's 60-year wait for a major international trophy.

Former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Bayern Munich coach Tuchel has made some bold decisions that will surely come under heavy scrutiny in the coming weeks if the Three Lions miss out on the title.

Phil Foden and Cole Palmer played key roles in leading England to the final of Euro 2024.

But Manchester City's Foden and Chelsea playmaker Palmer had to leave the team after having a poor season at club level.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White and Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin are also not included in the squad, despite being among the top English goalscorers in the Premier League this season.

Experienced Brentford midfielder and former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been included in the squad in place of Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton.

Tuchel said it was very difficult to inform players that they would not be included in the team traveling to the United States for the World Cup.

"It was difficult, even painful at times. I even felt their emotions during the phone conversation," he said.

He added, "I called every player we had in camp at least once. I wanted to show respect and appreciation for their contributions."

Tuchel also said he was excited to board the plane to the US and "fully immerse himself in the role of coach."

He said, "Right now I am in a mixed state of relief, excitement and preparation. After seeing the enthusiasm of the players and the decision being final, clarity comes and new energy is gained."

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire said on Thursday he was shocked not to be included in the squad.

"I was confident that I could play a significant role for the country this summer based on the season I had," Maguire, 33, wrote on social media.

He added, “This decision has left me shocked and deeply disappointed.”

Maguire's Manchester United teammate Luke Shaw is also not in the squad.

Tuchel has taken the risk of keeping John Stones in the squad despite an injury-hit season. He has not played much for Manchester City this season.

Ivan Toni made an impact coming off the bench at the Euros two years ago, but has played just two minutes of international football since leaving for Saudi Arabia in 2024.

England will begin their World Cup campaign against Croatia in Dallas on June 17. They will then face Ghana on June 23 and Panama four days later.
