Kathmandu. The Public Service Commission has drawn the government's attention to immediately enact the Federal Civil Service Act to strengthen public administration and ensure the merit system. Speaking at a special program organized on the occasion of the Commission's establishment day on Monday, Commission Chairman Madhav Prasad Regmi mentioned that the delay in enacting the umbrella law, even after a long time since the implementation of federalism, has seriously affected the entire administrative sector.
According to Chairman Regmi, the lack of federal law has led to a lack of uniformity in provincial civil service acts, which has also affected the employee recruitment process. He clarified that provincial public service commissions must also compulsorily follow the principles and criteria set by the Commission to make the candidate selection process clean, impartial, and reliable. Informing that the Commission had published new bases and criteria on Baishakh 8 last year for the same purpose, Chairman Regmi also recalled that there is a legal provision for actions contrary to federal criteria to be automatically nullified.
