Flood survivors face water shortages, disease risk in crowded holding centres

More than 3,600 people are staying in 37 holding centres across Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts. No major outbreak has been reported, but cases of colds, coughs and viral fever are common.

At the holding centre in Pipalatar of Bidur Municipality, five-year-old Yobisa Shrestha was playing on the afternoon of September 8 when she suddenly developed a fever and began vomiting. Her mother Yogita Tamang rushed her to the health camp set up at the centre. But she said the treatment had not helped much.
