Government Amends Law to Revive Urban Public Transport Management Authority

Kathmandu. The government has amended the law to revive the Urban Public Transport Management Authority, which was on the list of abolition. This authority, established in 2079 BS with the objective of making public transport in the Kathmandu Valley organized, modern, and integrated, had been largely inactive since its inception. Although the previous government decided to abolish it in the name of cutting administrative costs, the current government, recognizing its necessity, is seeking to give it new life through an amendment to the law. The 'Urban Public Transport Management Authority (First Amendment) Bill, 2083', presented in the Federal Parliament, aims not only to revive the institution on the verge of abolition but also to make it more powerful and 'action-oriented'.
