The government, led by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), which has prioritized good governance and 'service delivery,' is nearing four months in power, yet the general public has not felt any change. The RSP, which achieved unprecedented results in the House of Representatives elections held last February, had proposed senior leader Balen Shah as the future Prime Minister even before the election.
Balen Shah was appointed Prime Minister on March 13. On the same day, the first cabinet meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar approved one hundred agendas related to governance reform. However, recent events show that the government is failing in terms of good governance, national integrity, social justice, service delivery, and economic prosperity.
