Koshi Province Government Alliance Breaks as Congress Ministers Resign

Biratnagar. The 27-month-old alliance between UML and Congress has been broken after 4 ministers and 1 state minister from Nepali Congress resigned from the Koshi Province government. With the breaking of this alliance, the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) is set to join the government in the next two days. The Congress ministers resigned after the cabinet meeting concluded at the Chief Minister's office in Biratnagar. The ministers who resigned include Physical Infrastructure Development Minister Pradipkumar Sunuwar, Tourism, Forest and Environment Minister Bhim Parajuli, Industry, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Israel Mansuri, Health Minister Manbahadur Limbu, and State Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Shobha Chemjong. The Congress exited the provincial government after a three-point agreement was reached in the second week of Shrawan to form an alliance between UML and the Communist Party of Nepal at the center.
