Government Encourages VAT Bills Amidst Complaints of Non-Issuance by Army Petrol Pumps

Kathmandu. While the government is bringing a program to encourage consumers to take VAT (Value Added Tax) bills, complaints are increasing that government-affiliated bodies themselves are not issuing VAT bills.

On one hand, the Finance Minister himself is congratulating lucky consumers who win 1 million by buying goods worth 250 rupees and taking the bill, while on the other hand, it has been publicly reported that consumers are facing great hardship and abuse in obtaining official bills from petrol pumps operated by the Nepal Army, a body under the government.
